With a thundering burst the marbled walls shattered, and it's sparkling shards were spread throughout the sanctuary. The people were all woken by the blast, and they were shocked that it came from the royal palace. What had happened, was it an assassination attempt, were the amsk here? They soon got their answer as a pale and scarred avian followed the scattering rocks, his hands flashing in clear purple. It was young prince Drejrael!
He was followed by a shaken Ophiucus.

"Why son, why this?!" he yelled in a screeching and fearing voice, unlike his usual. Drej just looked at him with a mocking smirk, making every breath a hiss. His pain was excruciating now, every heartbeat was nauseating. It had spread to his mind.

"Ooh, but you know far too well, don't deny it!" he roared out in defiance as his purple scars were pulsing all the heavier. The royal guard was now pouring out of the gaping wall as well, but they stopped a few yards behind the king as they saw what was happening.

"I see you've brought your faithful dogs" He snickered with his eyes steadied at the captain. Nailmus was shocked, he had never been addressed like this, and in anger he took a leap towards the prince.
"You're a lapdog, then why don't you SIT?!" With a yell he struck the captain with a purple bolt of lightning, and Nailmus fell stunned to the ground.

"Stop this at once son, before you are accused for treason! I still love you, I.." Ophiucus could not finish his sentence, for he saw the glowing wounds of his son, and lightning was erupting from them.

"You what? Me accused for treason? Bah! Ooh yes indeed, it would be the cream of all your doings, for what exactly have you or anyone else in this kingdom done for me, when have I ever been loved? When my 'friends' have found joy in life, all I've gotten is represalia from a fossil" He looked at the unconscious Nailmus. "As far as I'm concerned, you could all just die!" Purple flames now erupted from his hands, and he shaped them into an orb.

"No!" Ophiucus yelled with tears running down his cheek, but it was already too late, and the orb struck the ground right behind him.

This was the breaking point, the moment of no return. Drej was never going to be able to return to the royal house, and he savored every second of that moment. As the king recovered from his concussion he saw the prince gliding away from their sanctuary, never to return. But a stone had been lifted off his heart. Drej was not a bad aimer, he had never wanted to kill him there, he just knew that.

Nailmus was more concerned. He saw the marks of the amsk on Drejrael, and he saw the hatred in his eyes, but he also felt guilty. Deep inside he knew that part of what he had said was true, so he took a silent farewell of the wayward son, pale in the light that never warmed.
